There is a controller for the LED taillights. On my Q7, I had that problem, and dealer replaced the LED lights at first, but no change. In the end (all under warranty), they ended up replacing the controller after contacting Audi World technical support. On the Q7 it was called the Comfort/Covalence controller Jxxx, not sure what it would be on A6.
